My second zine! It’s called “First Impressions.” I really like the format of this zine - no staples and when it’s unfolded, there’s a poster on the back.
My mockup was kind of a fail, but that’s why it’s called a mockup. :P
Better pictures in the near future!
Lately I’ve been on this nun kick. I think this is a phase rooted somewhere with my lenient Catholic upbringing. In any case, who knew there were so many different nuns’ habits out there? Pretty awesome.
These are some fun research sketches for my next zine.
Another Op-Ed piece. This one is based on how the NYPD needs be policed.
I’m sitting in on this great class called Op-Ed. We read articles featured in the New York Times Newspaper and we create accompanying images.
Last week’s assignment was about a teenager dealing with the absence of his parents due to “self-deportation” because of poor working conditions for illegal immigrants.
This is the illustration that I came up with. I tried to make it as authentic-looking as possible with the type and all. I’m really glad to be sitting in on this class. I feel a little bit closer to being a real working professional, haha.
This is the original article: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/02/02/opinion/do-it-yourself-deportation.html?_r=1&ref=opinion
Under the habit.
(Hey, this is my 200th post! Cool!)
If Harry Potter was a girl and worked as a stenographer, this is what he would look like.
(And I apologize for that atrocious-looking “4” in the top corner. I don’t know what I was thinking.)
Look, my first zine! (Sorry about the binder clip – it wouldn’t stay flat.)
The text reads:
“Hm.”
“Why are you doing that?”
“Because -“
“Because I’m on the edge, you moron.”
Another sketch, based on some story I have on the back burner.
I’m still here!
Here’s a quick sketch I did during class. How much more Asian can you get with a dragon tattoo around your neck? The tattoo is tackily drawn, I know haha.
This is my future roommate. Thankfully, he’s shaved the beard and gotten a haircut.
Happy New Year everyone! I’m sorry I dropped off the face of the planet. Over the holiday break I did close to absolutely nothing. I beat my high score in Bejeweled, does that count?
This is one of two drawings I did during my vacation. I’m channeling my love for Anne of Green Gables here.
Anyway, the dry spell will continue for a little while longer, but big things will be happening very soon. 2012 is going to be a good year.
I’m not sure where this came from, but now that I look at it, I think I was unconsciously channeling my Sailor Moon roots (Doom and Gloom Girls [DD Girls], anyone?).
I saw so many hipster people in Berlin.
I’m back in the USA. Berlin was great, but it’s nice to be back. :)
This and the next two posts were doodles I did during my journey back.
